Wow, a busy weekend, parties and barbies and visitors and some gardening.
:)
Best thing was figuring out that the mozzies that had been annoying people were coming from the ever increasing bromeliads we were planting around our outdoor eating/sitting area. These epiphytes hold water in their centers. I looked into them at night with a torch and was amazed at the number of mosquito larvae I saw. The next day we removed the lot. That evening, no mosquitoes!
A quick visit to the plant shop and $30 later we had a new mystery hydrangea with a nice fine leaf, a palm and a sack of compost. Add fern from elsewhere in the garden and it all looks way better than before as well. Instant nice.

Planted some more large leaf rocket and a new genovese sweet basil amongst the tomato plants. They are all doing well, though I will move one in front of the climbing frame and espalier it once the sweet peas have finished.
Picked the first zucchini this evening.

The beans are going mad and have reached the pergola. I'll have to use the ladder to harvest them. With a bean like that I was nervous of having a visitor by the name of Jack...

The bean is called "Wonder of Venice" yellow with black seeds. I eagerly await the first feed!
