September is here

Officially spring, hooray!
Let the growing begin, actually it's already happening quite well already. Doing almost daily pics of the two types of broccoli we have as well as a daily handful of the lovely Carouby flat peas, these are a mange tout (meaning eat all in French). The plants are now a meter and a half tall and are still producing pretty purple flowers and peas in abundance, nice to snack on straight from the plant and great for stir fries and salads. Highly recommended and can still be planted now and into summer, they are also mildew resistant, we got the seeds from Kings Seeds
There is an interesting bit of info there on a ban on growing peas in the Wairarapa to try to control a pea weevil, no peas for two years to let the weevil die out. Tha=nkl goodness they are not here :)

Wildlife amongst the hellebores

And sneaky aphids hiding under a hellebore flower
Quite amazing things really :)
