Early winter Sunday

Sixteen days and no new Covid 19 cases, I hope this will sound very strange in the future. We are in level two, keeping social distancing and no large groups, but everything seems pretty much business as usual now.
All the vegetables have grown very well as we have had mild temperatures so far, it may be 2C tomorrow morning though. I have put a cloth over the remaining chilli plant I'm trying to winter over.

Life goes on in level 2

Life is somewhat back to normal now in Level 2 keeping separated as well as we can but it seems as though everthing is very much all go. It has been busy in town.
The garden has been busy as well, peas are growing up their frame and I have planted all available sunny spaces. Seedlings of dwarf couliflower, beetroot, tenderstem brocolli, rainbow silverbeet have been inserted and the carrot and parsnip ones are doing very well. Finally ripped out the poor zucchini plant, massive long thing, it supplied us the whole season just nicely.

Lockdown 3 weeks in

Starting to get used to the nice slow pace of the days, can't do any spending, can't drive anywhere, can't even ride my new e scooter :)
But quite a few small jobs seem to be getting done around the place.

All our seed planting has worked very well, even the parsnips and carrots came up after about 10 days. The caroubi peas are starting their climb to the top as the days have been glorious, we've even been blessed with the odd rain here and there. Feeling the sun on your back as you garden is a pleasure now

Corona virus and all

Well we have survived a week in isolation in our little 2 person bubble. It's all a bit strange not being able to do whatever you want but it is becoming the new normal quite quickly. I think it may be a good time for an outflow of creativity if only to beat the boredom.
The garden is now completely tomato-less, I pulled up the last one yesterday and still have a small pile of fruit on the outside table waiting to be eaten. I'ts actually a relief when it comes time to get rid of the plants, they look pretty bad in the end. I have planted a long line of radish seeds  as well as getting seeds of tasty stem broccoli and beetroot  and carrots under way. There are also a dozen carouby  pea seeds coming up soon I hope, these are great for winter planting and have lovely flattish peas once they get going.

Our Jalapeno chili plants are really hitting full stride now and I have strung up 2 lots of the big fat hotties already with many more to come. The capsicums have also been great this year, near flawless large fruit. The beans have kept us supplied for a month or more, a good handful of tasty slender beans everyday, we have been doing our duty and steam some almost each day :)

The heat of summer

Early February, we have had a couple of 33c days and not a lot of rain. Have to do a continual round of watering this and watering that. Not too bad as yet and the plants are certainly producing well. The plums have now finished thank goodness. As it got drier the birds were getting bolder and getting into any plum that fell of the tree, they are now getting at any tomato near a suitable landing spot.
